Travelling between Heathrow and Croydon? A private transfer takes you door to door in about 1 hour 5 minutes, at a price fixed before you travel. This page sets out the distance, the route, the fares for each vehicle and how the pickup works.
Distance and journey time
The distance is about 42 miles (67 km). In normal traffic the drive takes about 1 hour 5 minutes; allow longer at rush hour, on Friday afternoons and on bank holiday weekends. Across south London via the A232 and A316, or around the M25 at busy times.
About Croydon
Croydon is in south London, on the opposite side of the city from Heathrow. We drop off in the town centre, at East Croydon station, at offices around Wellesley Road and Boxpark, and in Purley, Coulsdon and Addiscombe.
Car or train?
There is no direct rail link from Heathrow to Croydon; by train you cross central London and change at least once. By car, the quickest way is usually the M25 and M23, which is why the distance looks long for a south London address. If you can fly into Gatwick instead, Croydon is much closer: see Gatwick to Croydon.

Prices are per vehicle, not per person. The exact fixed price for your date and address is shown on the booking form before you pay, and does not change with traffic.
Meeting your driver
Heathrow has four passenger terminals – 2, 3, 4 and 5. We read your terminal from the flight number, and the driver waits in the arrivals hall of that terminal with a sign showing your name. We track your flight, so the pickup moves with any delay, and the first 60 minutes after landing are free. Meet and greet in the terminal and airport parking are included in the price. Child seats are free on request.
Going the other way
For the journey from Croydon back to Heathrow, the driver collects you from your door at the time you choose. Choosing “Return” on the booking form books both journeys in one payment, with a discount on the return leg.
