How to Visit Perge from Antalya: Distance, Timing and a Private Driver
Perge is the easiest major ancient site to reach from Antalya: about 17 km from Kaleiçi and only 7.5 km from the airport. In a couple of hours you can walk its colonnaded street, the stadium and the Hellenistic gate towers – and if your flight leaves in the evening, it can even fit into your last day.
Getting there
- From Kaleiçi or the city centre: about 17 km, around 25–30 minutes.
- From Antalya Airport: about 7.5 km, around 10 minutes.
- From Lara: roughly 20 minutes; from Belek, about half an hour.
The tram to Aksu stops a walk away from the site, but in summer heat a car to the entrance and back is far more comfortable.
What to see
Perge was one of the great cities of ancient Pamphylia. The main sights are the Roman and Hellenistic gates, the long colonnaded street with its water channel, the baths, the agora and the stadium – one of the best preserved in Anatolia. The theatre sits just outside the walls. Many of Perge’s statues are displayed in the Antalya Museum.
When to go
There is very little shade. In summer, go when the site opens in the morning or in the late afternoon, take water and a hat, and allow about two hours.
