Wheelchair Users and Airport Transfers in London: What We Can and Cannot Offer
We want every passenger to know exactly what to expect, so this page sets out clearly what our transfers can and cannot do for travellers with reduced mobility.
What we can offer
- Folding wheelchairs, walkers and mobility aids travel free as luggage.
- The driver helps you in and out of the vehicle and handles your bags.
- Vans have a wide sliding door, which many passengers find easier.
- The driver meets you in arrivals; if you have booked airport assistance, the airport team brings you there.
- The first 60 minutes after landing are free, so there is no rush.
What we cannot offer
Our vehicles are not wheelchair-accessible vehicles (WAVs). We cannot carry passengers who need to stay seated in their wheelchair, and we do not have ramps or lifts. If you need a WAV, please book with a specialist accessible transport provider; London’s licensed black cabs are wheelchair accessible and available at every airport rank.
Which vehicle to choose
If you can transfer from a wheelchair to a seat, a Standard Van (6 passengers, 4 suitcases) gives the most room for the chair and luggage. Add the chair to your luggage count when you book.
Tell us what helps
Use the booking notes for anything the driver should know: a walking aid, how much help you need getting in and out, an extra stop. The office briefs the driver before the pickup.
Prices
There is no extra charge for mobility aids or assistance. For example, Heathrow to Oxford Circus costs about £87 in a Standard Van. See London airport transfer prices.
Airport assistance
All London airports offer free assistance for passengers with reduced mobility. Book it through your airline at least 48 hours before you fly.
See how meet and greet works and the booking form.
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome at no extra charge. Please tell us in the booking notes.
