Saklıkent Gorge from Antalya: Distance, Best Base and Getting There
Saklıkent is a narrow gorge cut deep into the mountains inland from Fethiye. A wooden walkway leads into it, and then you wade upstream through cold, fast water between rock walls hundreds of metres high. It is a highlight of the Lycian coast – but from Antalya, it is a long way.
Distances
- From Antalya (Kaleiçi): about 194 km, around 2 hours 50 minutes.
- From Antalya Airport: about 203 km, around 2 hours 50 minutes.
- From Kaş or Kalkan: about an hour.
- From Fethiye: about 45 minutes.
The best base
From Antalya, Saklıkent means nearly six hours on the road for a few hours in the gorge. It is much easier from Kaş, Kalkan or Fethiye – or as a stop on a transfer between Antalya and the Fethiye area.
In the gorge
The walkway is easy. Beyond it, you cross a stream – waist-deep in spring, lower later in summer – and walk on rocks and mud in ankle-deep water. Rent water shoes at the entrance. Most visitors walk 30–60 minutes in and come back the same way. The gorge is closed when the water is too high, usually in winter and early spring.

Practical tips
Bring a change of clothes, a waterproof bag for phones and a towel. The water is very cold even in August – that is part of the appeal on a hot day. Restaurants on platforms over the river serve trout and gözleme at the entrance.
